Auchendean's Large Garden with hundreds of interesting Hardy Plants, Trees, Shrubs, Bulbs and Alpines is a riot of colour and interest from the early flowering crocuses right through until the winter kicks in, which is usually late November. There are several strategically placed seats so that guest can enjoy the stunning views - and maybe a drink or two from our cellar! See Auchendean's Garden Page

Auchendean's own 9 Hole Pitch and Putt Course with spectacular views at each hole. This was created by the golfing owners throughout the garden, and guests are not only invited to play, but to take part in the Mid-Summer Competition with prizes! This starts at 9pm after dinner, taking full advantage of the late evening light.   See Golf page

Our doggies Welcome Yours
Jock and Bess at the front door in 1990.
Dogs are very welcome at Auchendean. Owners - bring your well behaved pets. There are extensive woods directly behind the hotel, or quiet roads nearby for exercising, but to help preserve local wildlife you will be expected to keep your dog under control at all times. Our own Border Collie, Bess - extends welcoming paws! Bess will enthusiastically welcome all guests too. If she is too exuberant, please tell her in no uncertain terms to stop! See Pets Page.
We ask that you do NOT leave them unattended in any room. Our animals do not come in at all, although Lizzie the cat is an expert at squeezing in at the slightest opportunity. She keeps down bunnies and mice in the garden, and is totally free-range, so please do not let your dogs chase her. We also have free range chickens which don't like being chased. Your breakfast depends on this! There is a small charge for pets being in the house as it involves us in extra cleaning.
We do ask owners to clean up after their pets in the garden too!
