Organic Home Grown
Salads, herbs, Fruit and Vegetables!

The established vegetable garden

All Ian's hard work - the season for growth is only from April to September, and none of those months is guaranteed frost free, for instance we had several nights of frost in August 2000, so it can be soul destroying. But, when things go well, and with the long summer daylight we can supply all manner of truly fresh (sometimes picked a few minutes before eating!) organic fruit, vegetables, herbs and salads. With the addition of the large greenhouse (which is mainly Eric's domain) we have now extended our growing season, and supply tomatoes, exotic spicy salad leaves (usually from Easter), and our own basils in several varieties.
Ian grows over 40 types of potato which supply our restaurant through the year. We cook them in the best way to suit the potato and the rest of the meal. They are - of course - named at the table each night, and guests never see the same type twice during their stay.

See the vegetable patch in 1988 when Ian started work on it.
