Here we see how the light dusting of snow outlines the parallel horizontal lines around Glen Roy. These are ancient "beaches" formed when the retreating glaciers at the end of the last ice-age held back vast bodies of water, long enough for the wave action to erode the landscape. Several subsequent lowerings of the water resulted in these so called "Parallel Roads"
