This grand Castle, built by Sir Charles Barry, (of Houses of Parliament fame), - then repaired after a fire by Sir Robert Lorimer, encompasses a 14th century tower, is a split personality. This view isScottish in flavour, but seen from the other side, from the Moray Firth, it is reminiscent of a French Chateau.
Still owned by the Sutherland family, there is a private family Halt (Station) which the Duke insisted upon, or he would not permit the railway to pass through his land!
