Detail of the very rare
Twin Flower
(Linnaea Borealis)

Named after Carl von Linne, the Swedish botanist  who devised the modern naming system for plants. This was his favourite flower, related to the honeysuckle, with thin wiry scrambling stems and small scented pink flowers held in pairs on a stem about 2.5 inches high. More common in Scandinavia, it is very rare in the UK with only 16 plants recorded outside of Curr Wood - where there are over 40!
