Bess enjoys the show of daffodils in Auchendean's garden
As Easter is not a fixed date we usually open at the start of April, or a week before Easter if it is earlier. Easter is the traditional start of the summer season with all of the associations of spring, fresh growth in the garden, and here in the Highlands of Scotland the first daffodils are usually fully out. However, it's possible that there may be still enough snow on the Cairngorms for ski-ing well into April.
There is plenty to look forward to as the summer progresses, with long daylight hours in May, June & July.
There are Scots Ceilidh Nights in the Nethy Bridge Community Centre in July and August.
Then the Highland Games season peaks with The Friendly Games in Nethy Bridge on the second Saturday in August.
The hills light up with the heather in full bloom from mid August to mid September.
September brings a delicious flush of wild fungi.
The season culminates in a spectacular dazzle of autumn colours in October.
