The sun back-lights maple leaves in the garden at Auchendean
There are lots of restaurants of different cost and quality in the area. These are ones we always enjoy, and suggest you might like to try one of them during your stay. But there are many more, including pubs in Grantown and Aviemore and also Indian and Chinese restaurants with 'Carry-Oots' or take-aways. Booking is usually necessary in the better restaurants not least to check that they are open the night you choose to go out. We will happily make bookings for you, including taxis if required.
We ask that B&B guests use the breakfast dining table for 'Carry-Oots'. We will happily provide plates and cutlery, glasses, condiments etc.
Otherwise, don't forget the seats and tables in the garden if the weather is good. Some guests have taken a picnic for their supper into nearby Curr Wood!
There is a traveling Fish & Chip van which serves excellent freshly cooked food. They are in a different village each night, usually from 5pm until 7.30pm. Nethy Bridge is on a Monday night by the Spar shop.
The Strathspey Steam Railway usually run a Wednesday and Friday night dinner special during the summer, starting from Aviemore at 7.30pm. The catering is excellent given the traveling circumstances, provided by the Cairngorm Hotel in Aviemore :: web :: tel 01479 810 725
Another place we recommend all the time - the former potting shed at Jake Drake's alpine nursery in Inshriach is now is a cafe selling superb home-made (but calorie enriched!) Swedish style cakes, good teas and coffee. A bonus are the observation windows onto dozens of bird feeders with many of the area's specialities making regular visits.
