Autumn view from Auchendean Coach House Self Catering Flat
Located in the Cairngorms National Park, the homely Coach House Self Catering flat has wonderful views to the Cairngorm Mountains, Strathspey and Curr Wood through large windows. In cool weather there is full central heating and a wood burning open fire. Included is free wifi for you to catch up with emails but we are a long way from the telephone exchange so our broadband may not be up to the standards of most cities. We ask you not to download TV, games or films. There is a hifi system with iPod/iPhone and MP3 docking; video machine with videos; digital television with dozens of TV and radio stations to choose from. The flat is well decorated with pictures and a few ornaments.
The lounge is light and airy, with windows in three directions. To the
north is the large well stocked garden complete with Auchendean's
tricky pitch and putt course. Also there are views of Strathspey;
the River Spey and the Cromdale Hills. To the west is a
view into Curr Wood, a conservation woodland which we have direct
access into. Curr Wood contains many rare species including 95%
of the UK's population of twinflower, a scrambling honeysuckle.
We helped to save this plant when the wood was about to be felled
in 1998. You might also see red squirrels, capercaillie, crested
tits and scottish crossbill. Pine marten and scottish wildcat are 2 other
species
we occasionally see.
To the south are the Cairngorm Mountains, seen over the River spey and Abernethy
Forest, and we see a few houses from the picturesque village of Nethy Bridge.
The lounge has an open fire with a supply of wood.
The bedroom is very light and airy, with windows in 2 directions. It has a wardrobe
and
chest
of
drawers
and
a
double bed with duvet. Sheets and blankets are available if requested. There
is
an
electric
blanket
and
all
bed
linen
is
included.
