Association Waters or Private Beat

There are cheap local association waters or there are more expensive private beats on the River Spey. The choice is yours, but you also have the choice of the Rivers A'an or Findhorn - but the River Spey is King! There are also several lochs where it's possible to hire a boat to fish.

The Kemeney family (see pictures) has a long association with Auchendean.

River Fishing for Trout, Sea Trout Salmon or Grilse

All are possible catches on the Spey, although strict rules apply as to which ones and how many can be taken.

Loch Fishing

Lochs Insh, Alvie, Ericht, Morlich, Pityoulish, Lochindorb and Laggan can supply Brown Trout, Arctic Char or Pike. All are close to Auchendean.

Stocked Ponds

There is a choice of 3, the nearest is at Craggan, just 1 mile away. Then Rothiemurchus near Aviemore where you might be lucky enough to see an Osprey fishing alongside you, and finally near Rothes in Morayshire.

Tuition and Gillies

You can arrange for tuition or the services of a ghillie when buying your license, who will add considerably to your chances of a catch.
